Today's the first day of
the rest of your life,
Sometimes there'll be
sorrow, sometimes there'll be strife.
But outshining these will
be days that are bright,
As you watch those you
teach catch hold of the light.
With angels to watch you
and guard you each day,
I know God will help you
to know what to say.
Be faithful and true to
the name that you bare,
Remember, be watchful,
and show that you care.
Treasure the moments as
you serve in the field,
Wear the armor of God and
carry the shield.
For Satan will try you,
he's done it before,
He'll try to defeat you
to even the score.
I want you to know that I
love each of you,
I know you are special
and God loves you too.
I know that Christ died
to save us from sin,
I know that this feeling
is growing within.
Go forward young warriors
with courage and truth,
Teach people the gospel
with the fervor of youth.
Think of your feelings as
you answered the call,
You promised to serve Him,
go forward, stand tall.

poem was inspired by missionaries that my husband had the privilege of
teaching at the Preston MTC. I felt that I wanted to share it with all
those who serve the Lord in whatever field they are called to
throughout the world.
