Mary

Gabriel appeared shining bright,
To a beautiful young virgin fair and white.
You are blessed among women,
Though shalt bring forth a son,
Whose name shall be Jesus,
God’s only begotten one.

An angel proclaimed to Joseph
That Mary was the one,
That ancient scripture had foretold
Would carry God’s son.

Joseph became the Earthly Father
Of this divine being.
Together in righteousness they
Would raise our Savior, the King.

Soon a decree of taxes
Went forth throughout the land,
That caused Joseph and Mary
To return to Bethlehem.

The journey was long,
But most difficult in the end.
They found when they arrived
There was no room in the Inn.

Though large with child
The only place for Mary to stay
Was in a stable
Full of oxen and hay.

This lowly stable
Became the place
The Savior of the world came
To save the human race.

He had her fair skin,
He was perfect from head to toe.
Every second that she held him,
Her love for him did grow.

The wise men and the shepherds
Would just have to wait,
While she cradled her precious son
Trying not to think of his fate.

She held his tiny hands in hers
In awe of every part.
The pain these hands would suffer
Will someday break his Mother’s heart.

As a babe he needed her
To care for him then.
She would need him
To save her from sin.

Christ’s mission was clear
Mary’s was too.
Raise her son up in righteousness
So he can fulfill what he must do.
