I wish I were on the hillside where I know the savior taught,

And listen to his quiet voice that many often sought.

Why couldn't I have seen him heal the blind man on the rug,

And see the man look up at him and give him one big hug.

I wish I were a little child, that climbed up on his knee,

and looked up in his caring eyes to know that he loved me.

Why couldn't I have been there when they crucified our lord,

and stopped the wicked people who thought nothing of his word.

Why couldn't I have touched the holes that were in his hands

and feet, and look at him and truly know the savior I did meet.

But now I know the time has come for me to be on earth, and be

the person god wants me to be, a daughter of heavenly birth.

To stand for what I know is right in all I do and say,

For if I do I know I'll be in my heavenly home someday.
