My Best Friend

I’ve had many friends
Who’ve come and gone
But none were quite like you.

You’re always there
To hold me tight when
I don’t know what to do

You lift me up and
Bring me joy when
I am really down

You lend a hand
A gentle touch and
You remove my Frown

Every time I look
At you my heart
Just seems to mend

Thank you for
Everything you do
And for being my best friend

The Dream

I sit in bed
And lay awake
Wishing you were here

Soon I drift
And fall asleep
Still wishing you’d be near.

Dreamy eyed
And unaware
I wake up to the sound

So vividly
I see right there
An angel on the ground

“I had a scary
Dream,” she said,
“And would it be ok”

“If I slept with
You and mom,
Until it goes away?”

“Yes,” a voice said
Next to me its one
I know quite well

Could it be
The one I love
It wasn’t hard to tell

I turned around
And there she was
Wrapped tightly in our bed

“Still gorgeous”
Thinking to myself
Kissing her forehead

The little one
Then climbs on top
And slips her feet below

I place my arms
Around them both
I’m never letting go

“Wake up!” Shouts
Another voice
“You’re going to be late.”

“Just another
Dream.” I sigh
My heart’s about to break

Then stepping out of bed I see
My dream of you
 Still clear

I smile inside
Because I know
One day you will be here.
